7b. The atomic mass of the isobars for an even value of A = 100 for a range of Z near the region of stability according to the semi-empirical mass formula. Even-even and odd-odd nuclei lie on different parabolas. The formula predicts that there will be two stable nuclei: molybdenum and ruthenium.

Thus we see why odd-odd nuclei are so scarce. Indeed, you might now wonder why there are any at all!
